Guided search is the search box with the guesswork taken out. Instead of typing, you choose from lists. You end up with results for one make, one model and one generation, and nothing that merely sounds similar.
It is open to anyone. Each search counts toward the daily allowance of 40 searches on the free plan, the same allowance the main search box uses.
Steps
- Open Guided search.
- Pick a make. Makes are grouped by country: German, Italian, British, Japanese, American, French, Swedish, and a group for boutique builders.
- Pick a model. Each card says how many generations we know for it.
- Pick a generation. Each card shows its code and its years. Choose "All generations" to search every year of the model.
- The results load. If we have no generation data for a model, you are offered a search across all years instead.
What you get
Three numbers sit above the table: the average sale price, the median price, and the total number of results. The average is taken over the rows on the page. The median comes from the whole set of sales when we have it.
The table shows up to 30 rows, with the title, price, date, source and status of each one. The source is the venue the sale or listing was recorded from, credited by name on the row.
If nothing matches, you see "No results found for this exact spec" and a button to try another search. That usually means the generation is thin in the sources we track, not that the car never sells. Try "All generations" or switch to the main search, which matches more loosely.
When to use it
Use guided search when you know exactly which car you mean and want clean numbers for it. Use the main search when you want to browse, or when the model has variants you want to see side by side.
