What's new

What changed on Motivyn, newest first.

2026-10-05

  • A help center at /help, with an article for each part of the site, and this page. Both are linked from the menu and the footer.
  • The dashboard is rebuilt: a greeting with the week in one line, your numbers, your garage and alerts, this week's report, and the retail gap table, all in plain readable type.
  • Readability across the site: no more tiny spaced capitals, nothing dimmer than 70 percent white, buttons in sentence case, on the market page, model pages, valuation, garage, compare, pricing and the rest.
  • The drive: a one minute walkthrough over the real pages, from the menu under Take the drive or at the end of How it works.
  • How it works: a scroll driven film built from real recorded sales, linked from the menu and the footer.
  • New members are asked which car they care about and land on its page with Watch this car and Add to garage. One time hints appear on model pages. An empty dashboard shows labelled examples until you add a car or an alert.
  • Search shows your real daily usage, the account page shows live usage bars, duplicated alerts keep their generation years, and the alert confirmation email's pause link works again.

2026-10-03

  • The confirmation email has been redesigned. It opens on a car photograph and links to three model pages, and the text is larger and easier to read.
  • The popup about market notes that appeared on a first visit is gone.
  • Model pages no longer carry a strip of venue names. Each sale and listing still credits its source on its own card, with a link.
  • On a phone, the menu now gives the whole sheet to the links.

2026-10-02

  • If you sign in before confirming your email, the error now offers to send the confirmation email again.

2026-10-01

  • For sale now: listings we already have show at once, each with a line saying when we last saw it. A listing we have not seen for three days drops off the list.
  • Alerts: a sale counts as news for three days after it closes. Undated sales and dealer asking prices never send an email, so your inbox only hears about results.
  • Search results show a fact line in our own words (mileage, engine, gearbox, colours, location) instead of a seller's description.
  • Guided search now narrows by the exact make, model and generation years in our database, which makes it faster and more accurate.

2026-09-29

  • This week: a new report page with the week's numbers, a daily chart of cars sold, and the ten biggest sales. The homepage now features it.
  • A new menu: a full screen panel with the links grouped by what you are doing, and a featured car. Photo avatars, with an uploader in your account.
  • Sign in and the dashboard load faster. Garage values are refreshed in the background rather than when you open the page.
  • A sale just under a million now reads $1.0M rather than $1000K.
  • Coverage is now described as it is: the major auction houses and marketplaces we track, updated nightly.

2026-09-28

  • The Watchlist has been rebuilt on the new design system: clearer type, one button style, and a wider matches column on phones.
  • Deleting your account now cancels an active subscription in the same step, and you can export your data first.
  • New passwords need ten characters with mixed case, a digit and a symbol.
  • A lot that ended without meeting its reserve is no longer shown as a sale.

2026-09-27

  • Alerts can watch several generations at once, and the form shows roughly how many matches a day a choice will produce before you commit. Stale sales no longer trigger matches.
  • One vocabulary for price verdicts across the model page, valuation and the garage.
  • Billing: one free trial per customer and per card. Enthusiast accounts start on the free plan with no trial.
  • The guided tour remembers that you finished it on your account, not just in one browser.

2026-09-26

  • Model pages with enough sales now show their figures the moment the page loads, before any script runs.

2026-09-25

  • Valuation: paid plans see the full list of comparable sales rather than the first twenty.
  • The chart tooltip's click to view link sits top right, clear of the date line.

2026-09-24

  • Valuation: when there are few recent sales the window stays recent rather than reaching back years, and project or derelict cars are left out of the comparables.
  • Sales recorded in euros, pounds and Canadian dollars are converted to US dollars.

2026-09-23

  • Compare: each side now has its own year window, defaulting to the newest generation.

2026-09-22

  • Search: a query like Porsche 911 was returning two results out of thousands. Sold history and current listings are now fetched separately and the full set comes back.

2026-09-19

  • The Terms checkbox at sign up did nothing when you clicked the box itself. Fixed.
  • The appraisal report download on the Spread Index works again.

2026-09-18

  • A readability and accessibility pass across the site: small print is now white, every page has a visible focus ring, a skip link and reduced motion support, and no text sits under the readability floor.
  • Parts lots and memorabilia are kept out of search, charts and stats.

2026-09-15

  • The read layer is free. Recorded sales, charts and comparables are open to anyone, with a daily search cap. The tools are what you pay for.
  • A dealer listing that vanishes is marked delisted, never Sold.

2026-09-10

  • Valuation values cars on real comparables: manuals, one dollar rows and the wrong model year no longer count.

2026-09-06

  • Colour contrast fixed across the site, and every form control now has a label.

2026-09-05

  • Coverage grew: another major auction house joined the sources we track.

2026-09-04

  • The homepage shows the total value of recorded sales, computed from the data.

2026-09-02

  • Guided search loads in a fraction of the time, and the make grid shows real cars.

2026-09-01

  • The demo search on the homepage runs on recorded sales rather than sample data.
