Every Porsche 993 Sold at Auction in the Last Two Years, by Variant

Ask a valuation tool what a "1996 Porsche 911" is worth and you get one number. That number is close to useless, because a 993 Carrera Cabriolet and a 993 Turbo S are ten times apart and both are "1996 Porsche 911s." So we pulled every 993 that sold at auction between September 14, 2024 and September 14, 2026, 396 listings across 7 venues (Bring a Trailer, Cars & Bids, Barrett-Jackson, Gooding Christie's, Mecum, Hagerty, RM Sotheby's), and split them the way the market actually prices them.

After removing 2 lots that were not cars, 25 modified, race and builder cars (listed at the bottom, they are interesting on their own), and 2 Japanese-market cars that turned out to be 996s mislabeled as 1998s, 367 stock 993s remain. Every one of them is listed at the end of this post so you can check our work.

The market, by variant

The median stock 993 across all 367 sales was $109,000. That figure is exactly the kind of blended number this post exists to replace: nothing in the table above actually trades there except a Targa.

Two things in the table deserve a word. The highest Carrera Coupe, $307,500, is not a data error: it is the paint-to-sample Rivierablau, 19,000-mile, Aerokit and sport-chassis car Gooding sold at Amelia Island in March 2026. The highest Carrera 4S, $395,500, is the one-off Oak Green Exclusive-department car with 27,500 miles from Gooding's Pebble Beach sale. Exceptional cars set the ceiling; the "typical range" column is where ordinary examples live.

The manual premium

The 993 was overwhelmingly ordered with the six-speed, and it shows: Tiptronic cars are rare at auction and sell for meaningfully less.

Transmission comes from the listing text, not the title, so a handful of Tiptronic cars whose listings never said so may be sitting in the manual column. Every Turbo, 4S, C4 and RS in the set was a six-speed.

Carrera Coupe by model year

The 1995 cars (pre-Varioram, 272 hp) trade within a rounding error of the 1996s. The 1997 premium is real in this data but comes with a smaller sample and a heavier share of low-mileage cars, so treat it as a lean, not a law. No 1998 Carrera Coupes sold at auction in this window once the two mislabeled 996s were removed.

The low-mileage premium

Bring a Trailer puts mileage in the title only when it sells the car, so this is a read on the premium for advertised low miles, not a full mileage curve.

A sub-20,000-mile Carrera Coupe sold for a median of $148,500 against $92,325 for a car whose listing did not lead with mileage. That is a 61% premium for the odometer, before condition or specification.

Which way is it moving

First six months of the window (September 2024 to February 2025) against the last six (March to September 2026), medians only, and only where both windows hold at least eight sales.

The Turbo move is the one to be careful with: fourteen sales in six months is enough to see a direction and not enough to see a percentage. The Cabriolet move is on a larger sample and looks like the cheapest 993 catching up. Coupes are flat.

The rare ones, individually

Too few to average, so here they are.

What we left out, by name

These are real sales and interesting ones, but they are not comps for a stock car. 25 modified, race and builder cars:

Also removed: 1995 Porsche 993 Sport Seats ($10,400); Pair of 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera Body Shells ($3,050). And 2 "1998 Japanese-market Carrera" listings that the descriptions reveal to be 3.4-liter M96 cars, which makes them 996s, sold for $34,000 and $22,995.

How this was built

The numbers come from Motivyn's database of more than 230,000 auction results. We will re-run this cut every quarter, and the 964 and 996 are next. To look up another car: motivyn.com/valuation.
