This week and reports

The How it works page

A scroll driven film that builds the product in front of you with real data, scene by scene.

Updated October 5, 2026

How it works is the page to send someone who asks what Motivyn does. Rather than a list of features, it is a short film you scroll through. Each scene assembles one part of the product from recorded sales as you reach it.

The five scenes

  1. Type any car. A search runs on a real model and the recorded sales appear, newest first, with what each one brought.
  2. Each recorded sale is a dot. The price chart draws itself: price over time with a rolling average, so one strong result does not fool you. The biggest sales get a closer look.
  3. The receipts. A table of recorded sales, newest first. Each row links to the house that sold the car, so you can check the listing yourself.
  4. A dated report, every week. The This week numbers, from the same data the This week page uses: cars sold, volume, the median and the biggest result, with a bar per day for the last four weeks.
  5. Your cars, against the market. A garage card and an alert, showing how a car's value moves with recorded sales of the same model and how an alert reports the next one. This scene is marked as an example rather than recorded sales.

The page closes with three buttons: sign up free, take the drive, or go straight to This week.

The drive

The drive is a short walkthrough that plays over the real pages. Six stops, about a minute: the promise on the home page, the search box, a model page's price chart and its sales table, the This week numbers, and the free plan. Each stop spotlights one thing and says in one line why it matters. The next button shows what is coming, and clicking anywhere outside the spotlight moves on. Escape leaves at any time.

Start it from the menu under "Take the drive", from the button at the end of this page, or by adding ?drive=1 to any page address. It ends on a card with sign up for visitors, your dashboard for members, and a link back to this help.

Things to know

  • Scenes start once as you scroll to them. If your system asks for reduced motion, each scene shows its finished state instead of animating.
  • The first four scenes use the sources we track. If a fetch fails you see a placeholder saying the sales load here, not made up numbers.
  • Nothing on the page is an appraisal, and the example in the last scene is an illustration of the garage and the watchlist, not a valuation of that car.

If you want the detail behind any scene, the help articles on searching, the model page, This week, the garage and alerts cover each one.
